Hey, buddies! I’ve had this topic on my mind for a few weeks now as the mad rush to Christmas has been upon us. I think that sometimes it’s very easy for us to be swept away in the pressure of affording gifts for everyone we love that we forget to slow down and truly enjoy this season.
For me, in years past, I’ve been so stressed out about if I was going to be able to get so and so a present that I ended up dreading Christmas. Sis, I’m here to tell you that it’s not worth it. Christmastime should not be about spending money, it’s supposed to be about spending time.
This year I’ve been very intentional with my thoughts about Christmas. Any time I’ve felt stress or worry about affording gifts or such, I stop and think about the people I’m trying to buy gifts for and how grateful I am for each and every one of them. Once I get into a grateful mindset I’m often relieved from the pressure and able to go back to enjoying the little things that make this season so magical.
I hope that if you are feeling crushed by pressure to buy the best gift or spend the most money that this post will help you take a step back and reconsider how you should be thinking about Christmas. β€οΈοΈ
π Bake Christmas Treats.
π Drive around and look at the lights.
π Watch ALL of the Christmas movies you can!
π Turn on some Christmas music and have a sing-a-long with your kids.
π Make big cups of hot chocolate and watch the fireplace video on Netflix. (Or a real fire if you have a fireplace.)
π Make homemade Christmas cards…
π Or homemade Christmas crafts.
π Visit loved ones you haven’t seen in a while.
π Go caroling.
π Read Christmas stories with your kids.
π Go to a nursing home and read some Christmas stories.
π Ring the bell for The Salvation Army.
π Volunteer at a homeless shelter, food pantry, or any sort of community resource center.
π Most importantly: Spend time with the people you love and make sure they know how much they mean to you! β€οΈοΈ
I would love to hear what some of your favorite ways to enjoy this season are! Thank you so much for reading! β€οΈοΈ
This is my favorite time of year for “introverting” and going into hermit-crab-mode. Since it’s already cold and gross outside, I spend a lot of time indoors getting caught up on reading, writing, listening to music, etc.
This year I’ve really put my foot down on saying no to events I don’t want to go to and that’s taken a lot of pressure off me as well. π

My friend is going through this right now. I’m learning not to stress on the amount of gifts and to just enjoy the people
